Marie Osmond To Replace Sara Gilbert As Host of The Talk

She’s sat at the table before and now Marie Osmond has a whole new status at the CBS afternoon program The Talk. The show just announced that she will be replacing Sara Gilbert as a co-host of the afternoon talker.

Gilbert, who created the show, announced her departure last month when she said she would be leaving the show at the end of this current season after nine years to concentrate on other projects and she has already lined up a new acting gig. She’ll have a recurring role on Season 3 of the Netflix show Atypical.

The Talk debuted in the fall of 2010, filling the timeslot by As the World Turns after a 54-year run. There have been changes at the table over the years. Leah Remini and Holly Robinson-Pete exited after the first season making room for Sheryl Underwood and Alicia Tyler to step in.

A while back, Tyler left to focus on other ventures. At the beginning of this season, original host and moderator, Julie Chen, exited. Eve and Carrie Ann Inaba (Dancing With The Stars) stepped in to fill those voids.

Osmond is a beloved American staple, who first came to the attention of TV fans as a youngster along with her singing brothers, The Osmonds, on the Andy Williams Show back in the 1960s.

She and her brother Donny Osmond went on to host The Donny And Marie Show which aired on ABC in the 1970s. She also hosted a short-lived daytime talk show called Marie that aired on Hallmark several years ago.

Osmond appeared on season 5 of Dancing With The Stars and went to the finale. She came in third.
