Mandy Moore’s Behind-The-Scenes Video Aging For This Is Us

Mandy Moore snagged the role of a lifetime playing Rebecca Pearson on NBC’s hit show, This Is Us, but that doesn’t mean her work is easy! In fact, Moore may have the hardest role of all the cast, simply because she has to sit through hours and hours of makeup.

Though the actress herself is still in her mid-thirties, she plays her character of Rebecca at various ages, including as a 34-year-old, a 68-year-old, and now as an 80-year-old! And thanks to the magic of the makeup department, and her incredible acting, viewers completely buy her at every age.

But because of the massive 50-year age span she has to portray, Moore is forced to sit in the makeup chair for a long time just to get the look right. That also means she has to wear prosthetics and pounds of makeup, which can’t be comfortable.

Moore shared a time-lapse video on her Instagram in honor of the This Is Us Season 3 finale, which aired on Tuesday, April 3. In the video, we see Moore transform from a 30-something young woman to an 80-something-old lady — staying beautiful all the while — real quick!

“Just another reminder that our hair and makeup department on #thisisus is the best in the biz. They are masterful and simply put, as actors we wouldn’t be able to do our job without their artistry (along with the rest of our remarkable crew),” she captioned the video.

Moore also shared a photo of herself as an 80-year-old with the caption, “The future is here. #ThisIsUs.”
