Magnum P.I. is about to get back on the job even though its 1980s series star, Tom Selleck, will remain fighting the good fight on CBS’ Blue Bloods.
The role of Thomas Magnum has yet to be cast for the series reboot, but the perfect scribes are working on coming up with the pilot. Both Eric Guggenheim and Peter Lenkov know this genre, having created the new iteration of Hawaii Five-0.
Although four men made up the main Magnum P.I. cast, this fresh take will consist of three men and one woman. Indeed, Higgins (John Hillerman) will emerge as ex MI:6 agent Juliet Higgins.
She joins Thomas Magnum, a former Navy Seal returned from Afghanistan, who employs his skills in a fresh profession.
According to a number of sources including the Hollywood Reporter, “Magnum takes on the cases no one else will, helping those who have no one else to turn to.”
“Action, adventure and comedy aside, Magnum P.I. will also explore a brotherhood forged by the trauma of combat, what it means to return home an ex-soldier, and a commitment to continuing to serve while in the private sector.”
Stay tuned as Magnum P.I.’s new team of writers and producers work out the kinks to get the big guy back on the job.
