Lynda Carter took to Twitter Wednesday to eulogize Robert A. Altman, her beloved husband of 37 years, one week after his passing.
Lynda Carter — A Touching Tribute
Carter’s tribute, which was accompanied by a snapshot of the actress and her, “beloved husband,” picnicking lakeside in their halcyon days, describes Altman as, “the love of [her] life.”
She writes that, “Our 37 years of marriage were an extraordinary gift,” and explains that, “We shared the passion I hope everyone is lucky enough to experience in their lifetime.”
TV’s Wonder Woman also expressed the gratitude that she and Altman felt for their children, Jessica and James, whom she describes as, “the lights of my life,” and, “the greatest joy of Robert.” She also took comfort in the opinion that Altman, “lives on through them.”
She also took the opportunity to thank all of her fans who had shared their condolences, as well as their memories of meeting Robert “at concerts or through his work in the gaming world” and assured that her husband “loved meeting [them] and hearing [their] stories.”
Carter concluded her heartfelt tribute with a special section addressed to her late husband himself. The extremely personal words appear in full below:
“You are the most honorable person that I have ever had the privilege to know. And I got to be your wife and the mother of your children. Thank you for giving me all the love in my life.
“Nothing could prepare our family for this moment, but we will do our best to follow our dreams and honor the legacy you’ve left behind. I will love you always and forever.”
Lynda Carter met Altman in the wake of her divorce from producer Ron Samuels, and the couple married in 1984. She has long credited Altman with incentivizing her to seek treatment for her alcoholism. According to published reports, he passed away due to complications following a medical procedure. Entertainment Hub sends our condolences to Carter and her family during this most trying of times.
