After trying to fight against taking a plea deal and admitting their guilt, former Fuller House actress Lori Loughlin and her fashion mogul husband, Mossimo Giannulli, have accepted plea deals that will cause them both to serve time behind bars.
Lori Loughlin — Orange Is The New Black
According to TMZ, the former sweetheart of Hallmark has entered into a plea deal in the college admissions scandal that rocked the entire country — with a focus on two big Hollywood stars.
Felicity Huffman of Desperate Housewives fame learned her fate last September after she pled guilty — and was given a sentence of 14 days in prison, a $30,000 fine, plus community service.
But while Huffman and others were making deals, Loughlin and her husband continued to profess their innocence. With this plea deal, they admit their guilt. In the TMZ article, Loughlin “has agreed to 2 months in prison and a $150,000 fine and 2 years probation. She also has to perform 250 hours of community service.” As for Giannulli, he “will serve 5 months in prison with a $250,000 fine and 250 hours of community service.”
At the time the scandal broke, their daughter, social media influencer Olivia Jade made it quite clear that she didn’t even want to attend college and was mortified by what her parents had done. It cost her a number of sponsorships, just as her career was really taking off.
One could argue she wouldn’t have had that career if it wasn’t for riding the coattails of her famous parents — and it cost her mother as well. She lost her acting jobs and whether or not those reappear after she serves her time will remain to be seen. Certainly, stars have been forgiven for worse but the audience may not be as forgiving as casting directors.
As for serving their sentences, TMZ brought up another great point. The couple could seek house-arrest from the judge, due to the strain on prison systems because of the coronavirus. Will that be granted? Time will tell.
