Lori Loughlin, Felicity Huffman In Court For Bribery Scandal

Lori Loughlin and Felicity Huffman are two of the roughly 15 people who appeared in court on Wednesday, April 3 in Boston as part of the college bribery scandal. All the defendants are charged with conspiracy to commit mail fraud.

According to investigators, the parents either paid to cheat on standardized tests or bribed college coaches to help get their children into specific schools.

While Loughlin was in court with her husband, Mossimo Giannulli, Huffman’s husband, William H. Macy, was not charged in the case. In fact, Macy was not present at all for the appearance and Huffman arrived at court holding hands with another man. Some suspect he is either her lawyer or her brother.

Both Loughlin and Giannulli were instructed to give up their passports, while Huffman’s arrest conditions are the same as they were when she was initially arrested in California. None of the defendants entered pleas because this is just their first appearance. The maximum penalty, if convicted, is 20 years behind bars.

Loughlin was spotted in Boston ahead of the court date on Wednesday morning and spent some time writing autographs for fans. This also comes just one day after Loughlin’s Fuller House co-star, Candace Cameron Bure, offered her support to the actress on The Today Show.

“It’s too personal to us. We never wanna talk about someone that’s such a dear and close friend. But I think I’ve already said that we are family, and we stand by each other,” she said while speaking to Kathie Lee Gifford and Hoda Kotb.

Though they haven’t entered their plea deals just yet, sources close to the prosecution reportedly told TMZ they are looking to recommend jail time. “You can’t have people being treated differently because they have money. That’s how we got to this place. Every defendant will be treated the same,” a federal official said.
