Lisa Rinna knows her mother, Lois Rinna, is one tough cookie. On the Tuesday, April 16 episode of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, the 55-year-old revealed that her mother was kidnapped and assaulted by a violent serial killer when she was a young woman.
The man who attacked Lois is named David Carpenter and he was known as the Trailside Killer. He attacked and killed a number of people in the 70s and the 80s, but Lois was able to get out of her scary situation alive.
The mother-daughter pair recounted the scary experience on Tuesday’s episode of RHOBH after discussing the Brett Kavanaugh hearings, which occurred last fall.
“A few years before I was born, my mom was attacked by a man that she worked with. He picked her up at the bus stop and then, all of a sudden, he started to drive her down this really deserted road. He tried to rape her. He tried to kill her,” the actress revealed.
The good news is a military policeman saw them driving down this road and followed them. He was able to stop the attack and he ultimately saved Lois’s life.
Though Carpenter went away for seven years for attacking Lois, when he got out of jail he went on a killing spree. He even killed four people within a six-week period back in 1980. While this was a traumatizing experience for Lois, it was also difficult for the former Days of Our Lives star to comprehend.
“When I finally learned the truth, I had such great sadness and empathy for my mom, knowing that, not only did this happen to her, but she basically just stuffed those feelings for how many years. She never dealt with it, she never talked about it, she never even told her daughter about it.”
