Law & Order: SVU is coming back with new episodes in 2021, but series stars Mariska Hargitay and Kelli Giddish have a holiday message for the show’s fans right now!
Law & Order: SVU Stars Wish For You
The two actresses posed for a photo, wearing masks due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and while we don’t have solid proof, we’re willing to bet the two are smiling underneath their face coverings! “Sending love and Christmas blessings from Kelli and me 🎄✨✨✨✨✨✨✨💖✨#WeGotYou #SVU #SpecialChristmasUnit #StaySafe #Friendship #TellYourFriendsAndFamilyHowMuchYouLoveThem,” Hargitay’s post read.
Giddish, whose credits include a run on All My Children, came to SVU as Det. Amanda Rollins after Chris Meloni (Det. Elliot Stabler) left the show in 2011. During her decade on the SVU squad, viewers have come to learn quite a bit about Amanda.
She’s had a gambling problem. She has two daughters and a sister, Kim (Lindsay Pulsipher), who was in an abusive relationship and a master manipulator. Amanda shot her sister’s abuser, Jeff (Theis Weckesser), after he pulled out a gun, but Kim changed the story in order to collect on his life insurance. Before Kim was arrested, she left town after stealing from her sister. Her appearances always throw Amanda’s life into turmoil.
Olivia Benson, Hargitay’s character, can relate to having a criminal sibling. She discovered she had a half-brother Simon Marsden (Michael Weston) after illegally running his DNA through an analysis. Accused of a series of break-ins and rape, Simon was eventually cleared. Years later, Olivia and Simon tried to reconnect but he died of a drug overdose.
In 2020, Rollins was promoted to Detective 2nd Grade; Benson was promoted to Captain in 2019. The duo’s post received numerous positive responses. “Love you both so much and wish all of suv guys merry christmas ♥️♥️♥️,” posted @luanafr.
“Watching SVU right now!! 💯❤️💯❤️💯❤️,” posted @jordandziabiak. @pdduffy1988 wrote: “Love u both, stay safe and have a wonderful Christmas 🎄 😍❤️😘🥂.”
Law & Order: SVU returns with new episodes starting Thursday, January 7 at 10 p.m. ET on NBC. Former star Raúl Esparza will be bringing back his beloved character, former A.D.A. Rafael Barba, but this time as a defense attorney.
