On Law & Order: SVU, Captain Olivia Benson expanded her family by adopting son Noah. Now, Olivia’s portrayer, Emmy-winner Mariska Hargitay, is also making her clan bigger.
“Meet Albus & Grindelwald. 🐾,” Hargitay posted on Instagram, showing the two new puppies she’s brought into her home. They’re named after two beloved characters from the Harry Potter novels by J.K. Rowling. Hargitay says that the two “were aptly named.”
One of the hashtags Hargitay added is #FosterMom. Does this mean the pups are staying with her temporarily? The actress hasn’t indicated, but our bet is that she falls in love with the two adorable animals if she hasn’t already!
In fact, an additional hashtag that she’s added is #WereInLove and #PuppyLove. She goes on to thank the @animalleague AKA the North Shore Animal League (presumably who facilitated the connection). Can you say foster failure? We sure hope so!
Readers of the Harry Potter novels have speculated that the characters of Albus and Grindelwald are gay and in love with one another. Author J.K. Rowling talked about this in the DVD feature for Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald.
“Their relationship was incredibly intense,” Rowling said. “It was passionate, and it was a love relationship. But as happens in any relationship, gay or straight or whatever label we want to put on it, one never knows, really, what the other person is feeling.”
Hargitay’s celebrity pals are weighing in with comments on the actress’s new loved ones. “I. Can’t. Take. It.” posted @hilaryswank AKA two-time Oscar-winning actress Hilary Swank. Ali Wentworth, who recently battled the coronavirus, posted: “OMG I AM DYING!!! One for you and one for me! PLEASSSSEEE.” Wentworth went on to tag her husband, ABC newsman George Stephanopoulos so, don’t be surprised if she ends up with a new puppy soon, too!
Hargitay also added in her post the hashtags: #AsIfIDontHaveEnoughKids #K9Captain #StillKeepingSOMEPartsofTheStreetsClean #PoopDuty #DoubleDuty #DoubleTrouble #HarryPotter #crimesofgrindelwald #albusdumbledore #GetYourRescueOn #AdoptDontShop ❤️🐾❤️🐾❤️ Thank you @bethostern 💗 and @animalleague.”
With current renewals, Law & Order: SVU stands to become TV’s longest-running primetime drama. However, Gunsmoke completed 635 episodes during the course of its run. Law & Order: SVU airs Thursdays at 10 p.m. ET on NBC.
