Which Law & Order: SVU Man Should Sweep Olivia Off Her Feet?

Olivia Benson is all business on Law & Order: SVU, but she does make time for dating every once in a while. Though she’s focused on her career, she’s also hoping to find a partner to share her life with. And, now that she has her son, Noah, we’d love to see Benson have a partner — a romantic partner, that is — to share her life with.

We polled SVU fans and asked them who they think should sweep Olivia (Mariska Hargitay) off her feet next! Whether it’s an old flame, an old partner, or someone she just has natural chemistry with, the results are officially in. Check out who earned the number one spot below!

7. David Hayden
In last place, poor David Hayden (Harry Connick, Jr.) earned just 4.7% of the vote. It was never going to work between him and Benson, seeing as he was the ADA, so it’s not surprising he ended up at the bottom of the list. But they sure were adorable.

5 (Tie). Trevor Langan & William Dodds
Both Trevor Langan (Peter Hermann) and William Dodds (Peter Gallagher) snagged 5.8% of the votes. Trevor and Benson never dated, but he’s played by her real-life husband, Peter Hermann, so we can understand fans wanting to see that happen. Dodds is the Chief of Police whose son died on his last day working for Olivia. They seem to have a connection, but is it romantic?

4. Other
With 7% of the vote, fans decided they’d like to see Benson with somebody who isn’t on this list. Many of the write-in votes were for Barba (Raúl Esparza), who left the show following Season 19. Benson and Barba were very close friends — could a return to the show have them taking a chance on love? We’d be here for it!

3. Brian Cassidy
Brian Cassidy (Dean Winters), who has been on-and-off with Benson for years, ended up with 20.9% of the votes. Cassidy and Benson even moved in together — but they ultimately ended things back in Season 15. He later revealed she was the love of his life, and she learned he’d been abused as a kid. Could they reconnect? Anything’s possible.

2. Ed Tucker
Tucker (Robert John Burke) garnered 26.7% of the votes. He and Benson knew each other for years before they tried to make things work. Their relationship was probably one of the best for Benson but when Tucker decided to retire, they went their separate ways. If she ever decides to do the same, this may be a good one to revisit.

1. Elliot Stabler
In no surprise to anyone who has ever watched SVU, Elliot Stabler (Christopher Meloni) earned 29.1% of the votes. He and Benson were partners for 12 seasons and had great chemistry, but they never crossed the line. Fans have been desperate to see these two get together, so if he and his wife ever split, maybe there’s a chance!
