Lady Gaga and Former Vice President Joe Biden teamed up to offer a fresh public service announcement to anyone who has suffered sexual assault. On Wednesday, Mother Monster posted the short yet ultra important video on her Twitter account.
The one-minute message opens with the former VP dubbing Lady Gaga, who admits to being sexual assault survivor, “a fierce advocate”.
His “great friend” joined Biden in this PSA push to do what they can to end sexual assault. Their appeal is part of the It’s On Us campaign, launched three years ago by Biden and President Obama.
Biden said, “We want to make it real clear, it’s on…everyone to… stop abuse when they see it and when they hear about it–and to intervene.”
Meanwhile, Gaga admitted, “I know the effects, the aftermath, the trauma [that is] psychological, physical [and] mental. It can be terrifying waking up every day feeling unsafe in your own body.”
As these two public figures continue the national conversational going on today regarding sexual abuse awareness, Lady Gaga and Joe Biden give sound ideas about how to move forward in the most positive way.
That said, if you or a loved one has experienced sexual assault and are in crisis, call the National Sexual Assault Hotline at 1-800-656-HOPE (4673) for immediate help and support.
