Julia Louis-Dreyfus took to social media on Thursday to announce she has been diagnosed with breast cancer.
The Emmy winner wrote, “1 in 8 women get breast cancer. Today, I’m the one.”
Her brave message also read, “The good news is that I have the most glorious group of supportive and caring friends, and fantastic insurance through my union.
The bad news is that not all women are so lucky, so let’s fight all cancers and make universal health care a reality.”
More than 7000 supporters of The Veep star sent well wishes via the social media platform since Julia Louis-Dreyfus posted her Twitter message two hours ago (at press time).
Among her supporters is breast cancer survivor Christina Applegate. The Married With Children star offered to discuss the situation with her colleague should she care to do so, saying, “Mama, find me. Let’s talk if you want.”
Rita Wilson, another breast cancer survivor who underwent a double mastectomy and reconstructive surgery two years ago, also showed her fellow actress support after which time she pointed out that October is breast cancer awareness month.
She tweeted to Louis-Dreyfus, “Thoughts and prayers are with you, Julia. God bless you. Stay strong.”
No details about Julia Louis-Dreyfus’ diagnosis have been released at this time.
