Primetime soaps had it all from the late 1970s to the early 1990s. Big storylines. Big stars. Big Hair! They had crossovers, too, when the Denver-based Carringtons of Dynasty met The Colbys of California. Dallas’ J.R. and Bobby traveled to Knots Landing to see Gary and Val. But that was the extent of characters from other shows meeting. Joan Collins hosted a party that went further.
Joan Collins Hosts Holiday Party
Fans would have loved it if her Alexis from Dynasty teamed up with Abby (Donna Mills) on Knots. Or if Dallas’ Sue Ellen (Linda Gray) confronted Abby over her fling with J.R.
Soap fans who dreamed of such crossovers got the next best thing when Gray, Collins, and Mills posed for a photo at a recent holiday party hosted by Collins. “This weekend at @joancollinsdbe annual Christmas party! Such fun celebrating with you and @lindagray_” posted Mills.
Collins posted another image of them together saying, “Three actresses ready to party for our annual #christmas party @lindagray_ @thedonnamills.” While Gray did a similar shot and added, “Lovely seeing good friends at a Christmas party last night. #joancollins #donnamills #Holiday #friends #jeffreylanepr #Christmas”
Something In Common
The trio of ladies has more than nighttime dramas in common. They’ve each done turns in daytime, too. Gray portrayed Priscilla Kelly on The Bold and the Beautiful. Collins stepped in as Alexandra Spaulding on Guiding Light. And Mills brought to life Madeline Reeves on General Hospital, winning a Daytime Emmy in 2015 for her stay in Port Charles.
Collins and Mills appeared in the 2015 Pop reality series Queens of Drama. Grey reprised Sue Ellen in the TNT revival of Dallas, which ran for three seasons. More recently, Mills appeared in the series Swing Moods and in the TV movie Christmas Wishes and Mistletoe Kisses. Earlier this year, Collins starred in the FX series American Horror Story. Entertainment Hub wishes all three legends a happy holiday season!
