She may be a Hollywood actress and entrepreneur, but Jennifer Garner is also a mom — with an incredible heart who uses her star power to bring attention to issues that may not be at the forefront of America’s conscience. She did just that recently when she highlighted the work being done by the organization, Save the Children.
Garner, who became beloved by fans everywhere when she starred in the spy thrilling series Alias, is motivated to do good in this world, and it’s obvious by her desire to make food that is good for children with her new food line, Once Upon a Farm. But she doesn’t stop there when it comes to protecting children.
The actress recently shared a video to Instagram where she’s entertaining migrant children in Deming, New Mexico — but she also included a lot of helpful information to inform her followers about what’s happening there — and how they can help — without bringing politics into it.
“@savethechildren is running new programs in New Mexico, helping migrant families and children recover from their harrowing journeys and sending them onto their sponsor families with fresh clothes, medicine, clean bodies, full bellies, toys and a lot of love.”
These kids have been through so much. Garner discusses how they and their families are fleeing violence and their harrowing journies to make it across the border where they hope they will finally be safe. One woman’s challenge really spoke to her.
“One mom carried her paraplegic 13-year-old daughter on her back for 17 days of walking,” she wrote. “They enter our country looking for asylum— are detained at the border while US Customs vets their claims. Asylum seekers are up 600% this year.”
Touched by what is going on, Garner shares what is being done to help when she writes, “Save the Children is there to help with child-friendly spaces, expertise in humanitarian crises. Trained volunteers. Child protection services.”
