Jennifer Garner, John Legend, Lizzo, More Lift Others Up During Coronavirus

Stars from the world of acting and music (and sometimes both) have come together to help people get through the coronavirus. While original productions (both professional and on the school level) aren’t being done, performers like Jennifer Garner, John Legend, and more are using their talents – and hearts – to reach fans and followers.

Jennifer Garner Tells A Story

Garner (Alias) is partnering with Amy Adams (Superman) to create @SAVEWITHSTORIES where celebs will read your favorite children’s books. “We are galvanizing (without hair and makeup!!) as a community to support a new fund for a combined effort between @savethechildren and Share Our Strength’s @nokidhungry (and thank you to our founding publisher, @scholasticinc ♥️),” Garner posted.

“THIRTY MILLION CHILDREN in the United States rely on school for food,” Garner continued. “School closures will hit vulnerable communities hard and #SaveTheChildren and #NoKidHungry are on the ground and ready to serve. They just need our help!

“These funds will help us make sure that families know how to find meals when schools are closed, support mobile meal trucks, food banks and other community feeding programs, provide educational toys, books and worksheets, and support out-of-school-time programs to help kids make up for lost time in the classroom.” Read Garner’s full post below on how you can help.

Stars Reach Out

Singer John Legend went on Instagram where he performed a free concert. Legend’s wife, Chrissy Teigen, sat on the piano and chatted with followers to help entertain them, as well, and boy did she.

TV and Broadway star Laura Benanti (Law & Order: SVU) empathized with school kids who won’t be able to perform in high school productions. “Dark times for all,” Benanti posted.

“Trying to find some bright spots. If you were meant to perform in your High School musical and it was cancelled please post yourself singing and tag me. I want to be your audience!! Sending all my love and black market toilet paper.”

Eric McCormack (Will & Grace) embraced Benanti’s concept and tweeted: “Love this! Tag me too!” Having those two talented performers listening to their singing should definitely lift kids’ spirits (and ours).

“Y’all [hear] it here first!” said Chrissy Metz (This Is Us). “#TheDreamers is up & running on @Facebook! @DonnieBerry & I are going live every day this week at 1pm CT in the group! We don’t even know what will ensue, but expect karaoke, impromptu dance numbers, and more.”

Singing sensation Lizzo is helping folks meditate by performing some soothing sounds on her Instagram page. “A meditation and mantra to promote healing during this global crisis,” she posted. “Use at your own pace. Love you!”
