Tonight’s shocking double elimination on Dancing With the Stars will now be a solo exit. The Real’s Jeannie Mai has had to withdraw from the reality dance competition series due to health concerns. She and pro partner Brandon Armstrong will not be continuing with the show.
“Jeannie Mai will not be able to continue to compete on #DWTS this season due to a health concern that requires immediate attention,” read a statement on the official Dancing With the Stars Instagram account. “Jeannie has inspired us, along with millions of fans, with her energy and dedication. We wish her a full and speedy recovery. Since Jeannie had to withdraw from the competition, tonight’s show will feature the eight remaining couples and a single elimination.”
Armstrong posted on his Instagram account supportive words for his celebrity partner, lamenting that their journey has been cut short, but he says her health takes top priority! “JEANNIE! I’m so sorry this happened to you!” Armstrong wrote. “You don’t deserve it! Your journey on this show was so special so unique and so inspiring! I loved EVERY SINGLE WEEK that we got to go through this together!
“I hope I helped give you an experience that you’ll remember forever! We share a lot of good times, tough times and all the times in between but mainly, a lot of laughs!” Armstrong continued. “Mainly you laughing at me but hey I’ll take it! 😂thank you for giving me such an amazing season! We will all be praying for a speedy recovery! ❤️ #teamdreamofjeannie always! 🙏🏽🔥.”
The couple’s fellow castmates are also sharing words of support. “We all love you so much @thejeanniemai 💔,” posted Chrishell Stause (Selling Sunset).
“Jeannie is a freaking LIGHT,” raved Kaitlyn Bristowe (The Bachelorette). “She sat next to me in the balcony and I always knew she would keep me smiling up there. Speedy recovery for sure girl. We love you so much and I’m going to genuinely miss watching you dance.”
“LOVE YOU @thejeanniemai ♥️💔,” posted dancer and past mirror ball champion pro Jenna Johnson. “I’m gonna miss ALL your jokes on set and you putting the guys in their place. Get better soon!!!!”
“@thejeanniemai who’s gonna make fun of me now?????” wrote mirror ball champion Alan Bersten. “I’m so sad by this news. You are such a light such an inspiration. You make every smile and you are such a vibrant energy! You did so well this whole season! I’m wishing you a speedy recovery! ❤️💔.”
“We love you @thejeanniemai 🙏🏾,” added dance pro Keo Motsepe. While Mai’s exit means that two couples won’t be going home tonight, there’s still one elimination facing the remaining contestants. Don’t miss tonight’s show to see what unfolds! Dancing With the Stars airs Mondays at 8/7c on ABC.
