In a shocking move, Jason Momoa decided to shave his famed beard… at least for now! The former Game of Thrones star shared a video on Instagram Wednesday of himself shaving his iconic facial hair. But don’t worry, it’s all for a good cause!
The Aquaman actor decided to shave in order to raise awareness for recycling, as plastic continues to destroy our oceans. Of course, the man who plays the hero of the sea would want to help save it against its greatest foe. But that beard is so hugely associated with him and the roles he’s played.
“Goodbye DROGO, AQUAMAN, DECLAN, BABA New YouTube episode please subscribe and share this video. LINK in BIO . I’m SHAVING this beast off, It’s time to make a change. A change for the better…for my kids, your kids, the world,” he captioned the video.
“Let’s make a positive change for the health of our planet. Let’s clean up our oceans, our land. Join me on this journey. Let’s make the switch to infinitely recyclable aluminum. Water in cans, not plastic.”
The actor also revealed he hasn’t shaved his beard since 2012, so it’s easy to understand why some fans are freaking out over the change.
“Now forever known as ‘The girl who freaked out bc Jason momoa shaved off his beard,’” one fan tweeted.
“I know the redacted Mueller Report is out today, but please don’t let that overshadow the news that Jason Momoa shaved his beard,” somebody else wrote.
Another person shared, “Forget all other news.. Jason momoa has shaved his beard.” Of course, some of these comments could be tongue-in-cheek but it’s hard to say.
