Ice-T, the actor who’s played Sergeant Odafin “Fin” Tutuola on Law & Order: SVU since 2000, has offered up a teaser concerning Chris Meloni’s upcoming return as Elliot Stabler to the storied NBC procedural – and it appears that some long-overdue explanations are on the way.

Ice-T Teases Upcoming Law & Order: SVU Episode

The actor took to social media on Monday evening to post both a behind the scenes photo of him and Meloni and some cheeky conjecture. In his first tweet, the one featuring the aforementioned pic, Ice-T wrote, “For all the Stabler fans! My guy.. You’re gonna love this Episode when it airs… Stay Tuned.”

In the second, he penned, “SVU Predictions: Trust me. All of your Liv and Stabler questions will be answered in Stabler SVU episode.. Stay tuned.”

In a previous Entertainment Hub article, Stabler’s much anticipated return date was revealed to be Thursday, April 1 – one hour previous to the premiere of his spinoff program, Law & Order: Organized Crime.

That later project has been described as following Stabler’s return to the NYPD in the wake of “a devastating personal loss.” The former SVU detective will now head “a new elite task force that is taking apart the city’s most powerful criminal syndicates one by one.”

Ice-T’s tweets seem to promise a resolution to one of SVU’s biggest mysteries: Why did Stabler take early retirement without giving Olivia Benson (Mariska Hargitay), his partner of over a decade, a bye or leave? An answer to that very question topped our recent list of things we most wanted to see during Stabler’s return visit – make sure to check out the full feature.

Law & Order: SVU debuted on September 30, 1999, as the second offering from the Law & Order franchise, which was created by Dick Wolf. It became the longest-running scripted primetime series on American TV after the premiere of its 21st season in 2019.

Law & Order: SVU will return to NBC’s Thursday night line-up on February 18. Check your local listings for airtimes.
