Back in Season 1 of The Handmaid’s Tale, Mexican trade delegates came to visit Gilead to see the effects of having handmaids and if it was actually better for society.

Because of this, Gilead did everything in their power to make their society seem like the best ever, which meant hiding all the handmaids who were broken and beaten. That, unfortunately, included Janine (Madeline Brewer), who so badly wanted to go to the party.

“Sometimes we have to do what is best for everyone, not what is fair. Now, go with Ofdylan and I will make sure you get a whole tray of dessert,” Aunt Lydia said to her. Watch the clip above to see the whole scene play out!
