Season 2 of The Handmaid’s Tale was full of surprising twists and turns, including Emily’s (Alexis Bledel) new Commander, Commander Lawrence.

Though Emily’s scared of Lawrence (Bradley Whitford), she’s also suspicious of the fact that he hasn’t done anything to punish her. In fact, in this flashback clip, Lawrence surprises her with a beer and reveals he actually knows a lot about her past life.
