When Calls the Heart season 13 will see Brooke Shields reprising the role of Charlotte Thornton. Variety reports the actress will be involved in a three-episode arc.
Shields was last on the show back in 2016. She made her debut in a two-episode stint introducing Charlotte as Constable Jack Thornton’s mother. He died off-screen due to a training accident in season 5. But her return will be a joyous occasion, not a heartbreaking one.

Charlotte Thornton Reunites With Elizabeth and Little Jack in When Calls The Heart Season 13
When Calls the Heart season 12 ended with Elizabeth (Erin Krakow) and Nathan (Kevin McGarry) on the way to Charlotte’s (Shields) boardinghouse. Fans who were wondering if they’d get to see the former in-laws interact on-screen can now rest easy. Their reunion opens the door to conversations the two have yet to have about Jack because Shields hasn’t been on the show.
It’s also an opportunity for Little Jack (Hyland Goodrich) to learn more about his father from his grandmother. Their bond is described as “heartwarming” as Charlotte is the one who will help the child reconnect with memories of Jack Sr.
Viewers can anticipate Shields’ three-episode arc to also be an emotional one. While the Hallmark series has navigated Nathan’s guilt over switching places with Jack that life-changing day at training, it’ll likely come up again with Charlotte in the picture. She lost her son to chance, and that’s a heavy reality to live with and accept.
Now with her diabetic grandson coming to stay at her boardinghouse to be closer to an insulin lab, Charlotte will surely be wrestling with mortality and how some of what life throws at you is completely out of your hands. But she’ll also be reveling in her time with her son’s namesake.
When Calls The Heart Return Window (Speculation)
With season 12 finishing in March, When Calls the Heart fans can’t anticipate returning to Hope Valley for season 13 until 2026. A premiere date hasn’t been announced. However, new seasons of the show typically debut within the first three months of the year. A January-March release window is the safest bet, unless extenuating circumstances push the season into the spring or summer.
