Holiday TV movie fans have much to be happy about now that Hallmark Media announced a sequel to 2022’s most-watched cable film, Three Wise Men and a Baby. Yes, the Brenner brothers are back in the form of Andrew Walker, Tyler Hynes, and Paul Campbell. But so is their mother. Margaret Colin, who played Margo Hughes on As the World Turns in the early ’80s, also returns to play mom to those beautiful Brenner bros in Three Wiser Men and a Boy.
Three Wiser Men and a Boy
Three Wiser Men and a Boy is currently in production. The action picks up five years from the original movie (so the baby is now a boy). Colin’s character, Barbara, plays an integral role in the follow-up. Issues erupt when the brothers meet their mom’s new boyfriend. Each sibling struggles with their feelings about her relationship.
What’s great about Colin being part of this Hallmark film franchise is that she was also in the original movie that inspired these holiday flicks. She appeared as Rebecca in Three Men and a Baby, the smash hit film that starred Tom Selleck, Ted Danson, and Steve Guttenberg as single men who suddenly found themselves caring for a baby. If you recall, Rebecca had a casual relationship with Danson’s Jack Holden.
In celebration of the news, Three Wiser Men stars Tyler Hines and Paul Campbell released a fun, behind-the-scenes image (which included Colin) from the set. On Instagram, Tyler simply stated, “You asked, so we’re back. Welcome home.”
Before Colin starred on ATWT, she appeared on another late great soap, Edge of Night. She’s been busy since leaving the daytime universe. Along with Three Men and the Baby, she starred in movies like Independence Day and played Blair Waldorf’s mom on the iconic teen soap Gossip Girl. And Colin is still married to her ATWT, Justin Deas. The two played iconic soap couple Tom and Margo Montgomery Hughes in the ’80s.
Three Wiser Men and a Boy is set to premiere later this year. It’ll help ring in the network’s 15th annual Countdown to Christmas programming event.
