Ellen Pompeo Reveals Her New Favorite Duo on Grey’s Anatomy

If you’ve got a favorite pair on Grey’s Anatomy, well, you’re not alone. Series star Ellen Pompeo, who plays Dr. Meredith Grey, recently revealed that she has a new couple she’s rooting for on the ABC medical drama, following the Season 17 table read.

“Yes I have a new favorite couple not sure what you’ll call them …” Pompeo posted, teasing her followers after the first Season 17 table read, “but they are adorable you guys can have fun guessing who !!”

After several guesses, one respondent @emilyxkate, suggested Dr. Maggie Pierce (Kelly McCreary) and her new beau Dr. Winston Ndugu (Anthony Hill, who’s been bumped up to series regular this year). That turned out to be the winning guess! “Ding ding ding!” Pompeo posted, “You guys… you have no idea how adorable they are.”

Needless to say @emilyxkate was no only thrilled to have guessed correctly but that Pompeo responded to her tweet! “AS IF ELLEN POMPEO JUST NOTICED ME, MY 2020 HAS BEEN REDEEMED,” @emilyxkate responded in all caps!

Viewers were introduced to Winston and it was revealed that he worked under Maggie while she was a resident at Tufts. His crush on her was unrequited. He waited until she no longer had a power position over him to reveal his feelings, but then she moved to Seattle.

After meeting up at a medical conference and having a one-night stand, Winston revealed he had a crush on her from the first day they met. Winston suggested either she move to the east coast or he could relocate to Seattle. He advised her to take all the time she needed before showing up in Seattle.

Interested in a little more backstory? Winston was extremely close with his mother, who protected her son. Sadly, she died from ovarian cancer two years before he and Maggie reunited. Grey’s Anatomy is set to return for Season 17 later this year on ABC.
