Last night’s Game of Thrones was more dramatic than we realized. When a character on a TV show uses a product whose brand name can be clearly seen on camera, it’s called ‘product placement’ – and the show gets money. There was a product placement on Sunday’s episode of GoT, but it doesn’t appear to be one that was planned!
The site Delish is reporting that a modern day coffee cup with a white lid on it appeared in a key scene in the series most recent episode.
According to the site, the show has yet to confirm or deny that the cup accidentally wound up in a scene involving Emilia Clarke (Daenerys Targaryen), Kristofer Hivju (Tormund Giantsbane), and Kit Harrington (Jon Snow).
Around the 17-minute mark, when Tormund is toasting Jon with wine and insisting he should be king, you can see a cup of a different sort in front of Dany — it appears to be from a popular coffee chain!
Entertainment Hub checked out #gotstarbucks to see if fans were making memes and posts about the uncaught blooper and quite a few popped up! Check them out below.
Perhaps this will result in the popular coffee chain creating a Game of Thrones coffee drink named after the hit series? Who knows, someday there could be drinks available like a “Lannister Latte,” a “Stark Brew,” or an “Irri Iced Tea”!
Game of Thrones airs on HBO on Sundays at 9 p.m. ET.
