Game of Thrones Season 8 Prediction: Arya’s Mission

While Arya Stark’s Game of Thrones kill list has always been a reasonably good guide to figuring out what the young woman has in store for Westeros, Season 8 will probably involve that and so much for everyone’s favorite warrior assassin.

The death of Walder Frey (David Bradley) was quite memorable and had to be incredibly satisfying for young Arya (Maisie Williams) after the man killed her mother and brother — and while many say the North never forgets — that is especially true of Winterfell’s youngest daughter.

Arya still has a couple left on her kill list, like Cersei (Lena Headey) and The Mountain. The Hound (Rory McCann) has been marked off because she thought she killed him but that will eventually change when she sees he survived. All the others have either been killed by her or she knows they’re dead. So what’s left for Arya?

Plenty. And that’s because she’s received a lot of training since she first left Winterfell’s doors for King’s Landing oh-so-long-ago. During her time with the Faceless Men, she learned the art of subterfuge, able to disguise herself as literally anyone.

And that particular skill may come in handy. What if Arya is able to steal the look of someone very close to the Night King, head of the White Walkers? She could potentially learn their plan and report back to Jon (Kit Harington) and the rest and that information could prove key. But would she end up paying the ultimate price?

Arya is one of the biggest risk takers in all of Game of Thrones lore. That could mean that she might not make it to the end alive but it’s a safe bet if she dies before the final episode’s end credits, she will go out a hero.

Arya can be a hero without having infiltrated the White Walkers. But it makes you wonder — why else would she have learned this skill? Surely there is a bigger fish to fry than Walder Frey? She didn’t need that skill to take out Littlefinger (Aidan Gillen) either.

All of the living Stark children have their own particular skill that will help them contribute to the great war against the undead. This seems like the perfect way for Arya to take part — rather than simply using her hand-to-hand sword skills. Tune in on April 14 to see for the beginning of the final season and find out if this prediction comes true.
