There have been many reports citing the homeless crisis in Los Angeles. Now former NCIS star Pauley Perrette, star of the upcoming CBS sitcom Broke, is speaking out about it on social media.

Pauley Perrette Explains

“Bad homeless guy at my house Scared #Lapd here,” the actress posted on her official Twitter account. “Hate it y’all but don’t come to #Hollywood SO dangerous Drugged out violent people everywhere Trash everywhere Endanger us all Wheelchairs can’t visit me Blocked sidewalks Post your pics of #RealHollywood right by #Oscars #NotPretty”

In a follow-up tweet, Perrette explained that she is in support of fixing the homeless situation, but in the meantime, she is letting folks know when she’s directly affected by it, too.

“AND [for] those of you who don’t know or remember, I am a homeless advocate who was violently attacked Nov12, 2015 and almost killed by a homeless bad guy. So yeah I know the difference between a homeless person and a bad guy Duh. (@billieeilish) You don’t know CA law situation.”

Perrette tagged singer Billie Eilish in her tweet because “I’m a bad guy, duh” is a line from her song Bad Guy. In a related note, Instinct Magazine reports that fashion critic, Antonio Biaggi, referred to the Grammy-winner’s Oscar outfit as “homeless in Chanel.”

Homelessness Issue

A Los Angeles Times poll last year cited homelessness as the No. 1 problem in the city. According to the poll, 49% said homelessness is “primarily the result of a lack of affordable housing and wages that aren’t keeping up with the cost of living. By contrast, 26% said homelessness was primarily a result of individual actions and decisions.”

“The frustration that people are experiencing now, the angst that is being articulated with regularity here, there and everywhere, would be more profound in L.A. County had it not been for the resources and Measure H,” said Ridley-Thomas, co-chairman of Calif. Gov. Gavin Newsom’s state task force on homelessness, in the L.A. Times report.

“And what I like about what I did see … is that people feel like government needs to be pushed to do more. I fully agree with that.”

While Perrette has drawn attention to the issue, she was smart to not handle it herself but rather to turn to the authorities for help. Fans responded to the actress’s tweet with gratitude that she is safe.
