UFC Hall of Fame champion Randy Couture, a legend in the MMA world and a former competitor on Dancing With The Stars, suffered a heart attack on Wednesday.
Randy Couture Suffers Heart Attack
According to TMZ, The three-time UFC Heavyweight champion reportedly walked himself to a hospital in Los Angeles following a workout at the Unbreakable MMA gym because he noticed something was wrong.
Couture was admitted to the hospital almost immediately, where it was determined that he was having a heart attack. While the news is scary, sources say Couture is expected to make a full recovery.
MMA fighter Conor McGregor tweeted his support for Couture on Thursday, October 24 writing, “Prayers up for Randy ‘The Natural’ Couture #Pioneer.”
Serving His Country
Couture, who is considered to be one of the best MMA fighters of all time, was a state champion in high school wrestling before deciding to join the U.S. Army for six years. Following his time there, Couture made the U.S. Olympic wrestling team as an alternate in the 1988, 1992, and 1996 Summer Games.
He then started his MMA career and won victories over legends such as Tito Ortiz, Chuck Liddell, and Vitor Belfort. He was also inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame in 2006, becoming only the fourth fighter to do so.
Though he continued his career well into his 40s, Couture also started an acting career and appeared on the CBS show The Unit, as well as a number of The Expendable movies with Sylvester Stallone.
Dancing With The Stars
He also competed for the Mirrorball Trophy on Dancing With the Stars in 2014 and was partnered with veteran professional dancer Karina Smirnoff. Couture placed 11th, but he was definitely popular among fans.
Couture has three children, sons Ryan and Caden, and daughter Aimee. Our thoughts and prayers are with Couture and his family and we wish him all the best during his recovery.
Prayers up for Randy ‘The Natural’ Couture 🙏 #Pioneer
