Despite the fact there are countless characters on Game of Thrones, many fans consider Tyrion Lannister to be their favorite. Not only is he smart and witty, he actually cares for people and ultimately tries to do what is best.

Though he has had to overcome many obstacles throughout the eight seasons on the show, there’s nobody fans trust more than Tyrion (well, except perhaps Brienne of Tarth). Here are five fast facts about one of the smartest men in Westeros!

1. Honor Thy Mother
Tyrion’s mom, Joanna Lannister, died while she was giving birth to him — a fact nobody in his family lets him forget. In fact, his father, Tywin Lannister, used it to make Tyrion feel horrible over and over again. That’s just one of the many reasons why Tyrion snapped and killed his father.

2. Acrobatic Moves
Though it’s not referenced as much on the television show, in the books Tyrion is known to be a fantastic acrobat. We certainly know he has tricks in the bedroom to keep all the women happy.

3. Face Scar
Some fans may have forgotten where Tyrion received the prominent facial scar on his cheek. In case you don’t remember, Tyrion got the scar thanks to Ser Mandon Moore during the Battle of Blackwater back in Season 2! He always suspected (and was probably right) that he was sent by his sister Cersei to kill him.

4. He Drinks and He Knows Things
It’s no secret everyone in Westeros likes to drink — a lot — but it’s pretty clear Tyrion in the earlier seasons has a drinking problem. In fact, he spends most of the time drinking or trying to find a drink — that is until he found his life’s purpose — helping Daenerys to become Queen of the Seven Kingdoms.

5. A Face That Launched A War
Tyrion was set up to look as if he was the one who pushed Bran out of the tower (it was really his brother Jaime) so he was taken by Catelyn Stark, which was one of the catalysts of the War of the Five Kings.
