There’s no denying that Renata Klein is the most entertaining character on Big Little Lies. Not only does she have hilarious one-liners, but she is also a little unhinged, which makes for great television. The show just wouldn’t be the same without her!
From her relationships with the other women to her favorite pop star, here are five fast facts you need to know about Renata (Laura Dern) on Big Little Lies!
Doesn’t Get Along With The Ladies
At the beginning of Season 1, Renata did not get along with the other ladies at all. In fact, she and Madeline Mackenzie (Reese Witherspoon) practically hated each other. But, once Renata was involved in the killing at the end of Season 1, she was bonded to the ladies for life.
Working Woman
Unlike a lot of the other moms in Monterey, Renata is a working woman. She is not only on the board of the Monterey Bay Aquarium, but she’s also on the board of PayPal! She has to juggle work with being a mom, which sometimes makes her insecure.
Little Monster
It’s clear Renata loves pop culture events — she’s seen Hamilton four times, after all — but it turns out she’s also a fan of Lady Gaga! Back in Season 1, she reveals she has tickets to see her Joanne World Tour.
Helicopter Mom
Renata has one daughter named Amabella and she is overly protective of her. Amabella is a little shy and quiet, so Renata believes people try to take advantage of her and there’s no way she will allow that to happen as long as she’s around.
Husband Trouble
Unfortunately, Renata’s husband, Gordon Klein, was arrested in Season 2 after being involved in some shady dealings. Renata is not only upset because her husband may be going to jail for a long time, but she’s also terrified about losing all of her money.
