NCIS star Sean Murray has been acting since he was a teenager, but he is currently best known for playing Special Agent Timothy McGee. He guest-starred in eight episodes during the first season and became a series regular for Season 2.
Along with NCIS, Murray has been on a number of other shows including JAG and Harts of West, and he also took Tim McGee over to NCIS: New Orleans. From his Hollywood family to one of his first major roles, here are five fast facts about the NCIS star.
Following In His (Step)Father’s Footsteps
Murray’s stepfather is actually Donald P. Bellisario, who created NCIS. Bellisario married Murray’s mother, Vivienne Bellisario, back in 1998. She is his fourth wife. Bellisario reportedly patterned Gibbs (Mark Harmon) and his romantic life after his own private life.
Dual Citizen
Along with being American, Murray is also Australian! While he was born in Bethesda, Maryland (not far from Washington, D.C., where NCIS takes place), he grew up in New South Wales, Australia.
Spooky Role
Before he got his role on NCIS, Murray was in the very popular movie Hocus Pocus with Bette Midler, which came out in 1993. He played the character of Thackery Binx and was even nominated for a Young Artist Award for Best Youth Actor in a Motion Picture Comedy.
Pretty Little Liar
Because Murray’s stepfather was married four times, the 41-year-old has a lot of stepsiblings. One of those siblings happens to be Troian Bellisario, who is best known for playing Spencer Hastings on Pretty Little Liars. In fact, Bellisario guest starred on NCIS and played Murray’s character’s little sister!
Family Man
Murray married his wife, Carrie James, in 2005 and the couple has two children together. They have a daughter named Caitlyn who was born in 2007 and a son named River who was born in 2010.
