After 15 glorious seasons, there’s no way fans of Grey’s Anatomy don’t love Miranda Bailey. Though she can be tough and feisty, she truly has a heart of gold and loves her fellow doctors more than anything.
She always wants the best for the people she cares about and she’s never afraid to stick her neck out for the ones she loves. In honor of our beloved Chief of Surgery, here are five fast facts about Dr. Miranda Bailey (Chandra Wilson).
1. Not Always the Nazi
When Miranda became the Chief Resident, her interns called her “The Nazi” because she was tough and didn’t have any tolerance for mistakes. However, she wasn’t always that way. While she herself was an intern, Miranda was actually very quiet and shy.
2. Never a Homecoming Queen
Miranda grew up in a very strict home with her mother and wasn’t allowed to do things that other kids were allowed to do. She sadly never went to a Homecoming dance because the boy she liked never asked her.
3. Secret Jedi
Not only is Miranda obsessed with medicine, but she’s also always obsessed with Star Wars! She knows everything there is to know about the world and is very interested in science fiction.
4. Girl Power
Miranda has paved the way for so many of the female doctors at Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital. In fact, she was the only female intern in her class! But thankfully things have changed and now there have been many more.
5. What’s In A Name
When Meredith Grey and Derek Shepherd were pregnant with their second child, a boy, they decided to name him Derek Bailey Shepherd, in her honor. The little boy also goes by the name Bailey.
