Five Fast Facts About Grey’s Anatomy Star Kevin McKidd

 Comments

Kevin McKidd has been working now for a couple of decades, but his biggest role to date is definitely playing Owen Hunt on Grey’s Anatomy. In fact, the 45-year-old has been on the show for over 10 seasons and is one of the longest-running cast members.

While fans seem to know a lot about some of the main actors on Grey’s, like Ellen Pompeo, there’s still a lot to learn about him. Here are five fast facts about the star.

Faking The Accent
Though McKidd has an American accent for his role as Owen Hunt on Grey’s Anatomy, he actually has a Scottish accent in real life. The handsome actor was born and raised in Scotland and had to learn to do an American accent in order to play his character, who is a former member of the U.S. Army.

Before Acting
Growing up in Scotland, McKidd decided he wanted to complete an apprenticeship and decided to become a coppersmith! Maybe he’ll be able to play a coppersmith in a movie or television show in the future.

Double Threat
Along with being a great actor, McKidd is also a talented singer and musician! In fact, he can play the guitar and has even recorded an album called The Speyside Sessions, which was released to support a charity.

Almost A Stormtrooper
Kevin apparently auditioned to be a Stormtrooper in the Star Wars film The Phantom Menace, but he didn’t get the role. He did, however, work with the future star of that same film Ewan McGregor (Obi-Wan Kenobi) in the movie Trainspotting.

Getting Personal
McKidd has two children from his first marriage to Jane Parker — daughter Iona and son Joseph. He and Parker divorced and in 2018, he married chef Arielle Goldrath in a Jewish ceremony. They now have a son, Aiden.
