Five Fast Facts About Grey’s Anatomy Star Justin Chambers

Justin Chambers began his career as a model, but he’s now known as one of today’s most popular television actors, having been in all 15 seasons of Grey’s Anatomy. He’s also arguably the second most beloved character ever — right behind Meredith Grey, of course.

While many know he got his start as the ruggedly handsome Nick Hudson, son of Michael Hudson, on the NBC soap opera, Another World, here are five facts you may not know about the actor best known for playing Dr. Alex Karev.

1. Seeing Double
Believe it or not, Chambers is actually a fraternal twin! His twin brother is named Jason. They’re the babies of the family since he also has an older brother named John and two older sisters named Mia and Susan.

2. Back To The Beginning—NOT?
Grey’s Anatomy almost didn’t have an Alex Karev! In the original pilot of the ABC drama, there was no character of Alex. Creator Shonda Rhimes then realized the show needed a jerk character and they created Karev. They then had to add his new scenes into the pilot.

3. Family Man
Chambers is one of five children, so it’s only natural he and his wife, Keisha Chambers, have five kids of their own! They have daughter Isabella, twin daughters (not surprising since twins run in families) Maya and Kaila, daughter Eva, and son Jackson.

4. J.Lo’s Almost Husband?
Some people may not know this, but Chambers played Jennifer Lopez’s almost-husband in the movie, The Wedding Planner. The handsome actor played the character of Massimo Bulut Lenzetti, who was arranged to marry Lopez’s character, Mary.

5. Sleep Problems
Chambers had to actually check himself into the UCLA Medical Center due to exhaustion because he had a sleep disorder. In fact, there was a period of time he was only getting around two hours of sleep a week!
