Five Fast Facts About Former Grey’s Anatomy Star Jessica Capshaw

Jessica Capshaw is best known for playing Arizona Robbins for 10 seasons on Grey’s Anatomy. Though she’s no longer on the show, she’s still one of the best characters to ever be on the long-running series. Fans keep hoping that she may come back someday.

From her very famous stepdad to her first ever film, here are five fast facts you need to know about former Grey’s Anatomy star, Jessica Capshaw.

In the Beginning
Capshaw was born in Columbia, Missouri to actress/producer Kate Capshaw and Robert Capshaw, a high school principal and business executive. She attended the prestigious Brown University and graduated in 1998 with a B.A. in English. During summers, she took classes at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts in London.

Big Family
Capshaw is the stepdaughter of famous director Steven Spielberg, who married Capshaw’s mother, Kate Capshaw, when she was 15. Because of her mother’s marriage to Spielberg, Capshaw has a whopping 10 siblings! She has half-siblings, step-siblings, and adopted siblings. She also has siblings on her father’s side as well.

First Film
Capshaw started acting when she was young and pursued theater while she was in college, but she got her first movie role in the 1997 film, The Locusts, which also starred her famous mother.

Serious Upgrade
Capshaw first joined Grey’s Anatomy back in Season 5, but she was only supposed to be on the show for three episodes. However, because she was so likable, creator Shonda Rhimes decided to upgrade her to a series regular for Season 6.

Honest Living
She and her husband, Christopher Gavigan, have four children together. Gavigan is an entrepreneur and former CEO of Healthy Child, Healthy World. He is also co-founder, along with Jessica Alba, of The Honest Company.
