Good news for Dancing With the Stars fans as Season 28 is just over a month away. Pro dancer Jenna Johnson is expected to return to the show after competing with Bachelor star Joe Amabile last season, but this time she’s coming back as a newlywed!
From where she grew up to her biggest fear, here are five fast facts you need to know about Dancing With the Stars pro, Jenna Johnson!
In The Beginning….
Johnson was born in Provo, Utah and is the fifth of six children. Her parents have three kids with S names — Stacy, Scott, and Skyler — and three kids with J names — Jason, Jill, and Jenna. She started dancing when she was very young and made it on to So You Think You Can Dance back in Season 10.
Friends Forever
The entire cast of Dancing With the Stars is very close, but Johnson has a special bond with Witney Carson and Lindsay Arnold because they grew up together. The three are all from Provo and danced together as children. They also were all contestants on So You Think You Can Dance and then wound up being hired by Dancing With the Stars.

Path Not Taken
While Johnson is an amazing dancer, she had a different career path in mind when she was a child. In fact, she really wanted to be a doctor because she’s obsessed with anatomy. She’s also not afraid of blood and was usually the first one on the scene when a friend would get hurt growing up.
Biggest Fear
She may not be afraid of blood, but she was afraid of the night. Johnson revealed she was so scared at night that she actually slept in her sister’s bed until she was a senior in high school! She would even sleep on the floor if that meant she didn’t have to sleep by herself.
Married Life
Johnson started dating fellow DWTS pro, Val Chmerkovskiy, back in 2017 and they got engaged in Venice, Italy in 2018. The couple wed on April 13, 2019. Johnson’s former Dancing With the Stars partner, Adam Rippon, was a part of their wedding party, as was the groom’s brother, Maksim Chmerkovskiy.
