The characters on Game of Thrones are incredibly complex, which is why it can be difficult to pick a favorite. While at times your favorite character can be noble and righteous, they can also be devilish and complicated. However, there is probably no one more pure of heart than Brienne of Tarth.
In fact, Brienne (Gwendoline Christie) is definitely the most honorable character, as she always tries to do what is right, no matter what. Here are five fast facts about Brienne of Tarth.
1. Last of Her House
Brienne is actually the only living child of Lord Selwyn Tarth of Evenfall Hall, which means she is the last of House Tarth. The island of Tarth is located in the Narrow Sea.
2. Not Always An Only Child
Though she is currently an only child, Brienne once actually had a sibling. In fact, she had an older brother named Galladon, but he tragically drowned when he was just 8 years old.
3. Thrice Engaged
Despite never being married, Brienne has actually been engaged three times. Her first engagement actually came when she was 7 — gross! — to a 10-year-old named Lord Bryen Caron, but he died shortly after they met.
She was then engaged to Ser Ronnet Connington, but he called off the engagement. Her third engagement was at 16 to Ser Humfrey Wagstaff, but she ended that engagement after beating him in combat.
4. Oath To The King:
Fans first met Brienne when she asked to be a part of Lord Renly Baratheon’s Kingsguard. He allowed her to be, despite her gender. When he was killed by the smoke monster while she was there, it was probably her lowest moment — but she befriended Catelyn Stark — and swore to bring her daughters to her and the rest is history.
5. Ser Brienne:
After years and years of desperately wanting to become a knight, Brienne was finally knighted by Jaime Lannister in the second episode of Season 8. She is now the first female knight in the Seven Kingdoms.
