Kathryn Newton currently co-stars on HBO’s hit series Big Little Lies, but the 22-year-old has been acting for quite some time now. In The Beginning
The 22-year-old was born in Orlando, Florida and grew up in Miami. She moved when she was just 11 years old to pursue acting full time and ended up attending Notre Dame High School in Sherman Oaks, California.
Newton landed her first acting role when she was just 4 years old! She was cast on the soap opera All My Children as Colby Chandler and appeared in two episodes between 2001 and 2005. Following her time on the soap, Newton started performing in short films.
After a few years of acting, Newton landed her big break on the CBS comedy Gary Unmarried, which ran for two seasons. Newton played the role of Louise Brooks, Gary and Allison’s daughter. In fact, she won the Young Artist Award for Best Supporting Performance in a TV Series in 2010!
Swingin’ Since The Beginning
Along with acting, Newton’s other passion is golf. In fact, her father is a professional golfer and got her hooked on the sport when she was very young. Newton continued to play golf in high school and even lead her team to a regional title! She continues to play and loves to share videos on her Instagram page.
Best Picture Contenders
Back in 2017 when Newton was just 20 years old, she was in not one but two movies up for Best Picture at the Oscars. She was in the movie Ladybird as Darlene Bell, and she was also in the movie Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri as Angela Hayes.
