Former Bachelor Colton Underwood is a man of many talents — he can jump a fence, after all — but there’s a lot that people do not know about him.

While he thankfully found love on The Bachelor, the 27-year-old had quite a life prior to his time on television. From playing sports to dating fellow athletes, here are five facts about Underwood you may not have known.

1. Gymnast girlfriend
Colton is currently dating girlfriend Cassie Randolph, but his ex-girlfriend is gymnast Aly Raisman! The pair met through former gymnast Shawn Johnson, who knows both Colton and Aly.

The former couple started dating after the 2016 Olympics and were spotted at a number of events, including the 2017 Golden Globes, but they ended their relationship just a few months later.

2. Restaurant owner
Before his time on The Bachelor, the 27-year-old was actually a restaurant owner. The restaurant was called 4th and Goal and it was located in Washington, Illinois, which is his hometown. Unfortunately, the restaurant is no longer open.

3. NFL player
After playing football in college at Illinois State University, Colton was signed by the San Diego Chargers as a free agent in 2014. He was then signed to the Philadelphia Eagles and the Oakland Raiders practice squads. Colton then decided to retire from football in 2016.

4. Philanthropist
He’s a great athlete, a reality star, and a philanthropist! After he finished playing football, Colton started The Colton Underwood Legacy Foundation, which helps people who have cystic fibrosis. In fact, the foundation has donated hundreds of thousands of dollars to people in need.

5. Colorado to Los Angeles
Though he was born and raised in Illinois, Colton had been living in Denver, Colorado prior to his time on The Bachelorette and The Bachelor. But, since getting in a relationship with Cassie, he has decided to move out to Los Angeles.
