It’s over for Bachelor in Paradise couple Demi Burnett and Kristian Haggerty. Just one day after fellow BIP couple Tayshia Adams and John Paul Jones ended their relationship, another reality TV pair has called it quits.

Bachelor In Paradise Couple Splits

Burnett and Haggerty, who were the first same-sex couple to get engaged in BIP history, announced their split on Thursday, October 31 after weeks of speculation after the women that the women were rather silent lately on social media.

Both Haggerty and Burnett took to their Instagram accounts to open up about the split, as they each shared the same statement.

“What has always been at the forefront of our relationship is love and care for one another. Our priority is doing what is best for us. With a heavy heart full of love for one another we have decided it is best for us to take a step back from our relationship,” they wrote.

Doing What’s Best For Them
“We ultimately want what is best for us in the long run and for us right now, that means being apart and growing individually. We have felt so much love and support from you all as you’ve followed our journey together and for that we are grateful.”

Despite the fact they ultimately didn’t work as a couple, both Demi Burnett and Kristian Haggerty hope fans struggling with their own sexuality feel less alone.

“And we hope it shows that two people can love one another in different ways and for us right now that is apart. But we remain committed to encouraging each other, supporting each other and continuing forward in a way best for us.”

Broken Engagement

The pair got engaged on the BIP finale in August, but they first met this spring through a mutual friend. Though they were just casually dating when Burnett decided to go on Bachelor in Paradise, Haggerty made the decision to go down to Mexico and ask for another chance.

They then decided to commit to one another and made history as the first Bachelor Nation same-sex couple.
