Mischa Barton broke hearts when she was killed off as Marissa on The O.C. Now, she’s being written off another series that has her fans feeling sad.
Mischa Barton Not Returning
According to TMZ, Barton will not be back on Season 2 of the reboot of The Hills because she’s being replaced with someone who reportedly has more spunk and more gossip to spill.
The rest of the show’s cast will be back. It’s just Barton who’s saying goodbye. Sources went on to tell the news/gossip site that producers found Barton’s stories a ‘bit bland’ and that the actress was a ‘little boring.’
The producers need dishy drama and they felt that Barton was coming up short in that department. Filling the story void left by Barton is Caroline D’Amore, the pizza heiress, who became a disc jockey and Hollywood socialite. D’Amore reportedly used to pal around with Paris Hilton years ago, so she likely has stories to share and tea to spill.
Past Struggles
Barton has struggled to find the level of popularity she enjoyed on The O.C. since leaving the popular Fox drama. She has worked regularly since Marissa was killed off, appearing in such TV shows and films as Law & Order: SVU, A Resurrection, Throwdown, Recovery Road, and, more recently, The Basement.
The Hills isn’t Barton’s first experience with reality TV. She was the second star voted off Season 22 of Dancing With the Stars. The experience, she said, was not a good one. “Ugh, I had no idea it would be so bad,” Barton later told People. “I got told off by my dancer. I was supposed to control the costumes, I was told that I could do the design aspect of it, that’s kind of the reason why I agreed to do it.
“That didn’t happen. It wasn’t collaborative like a choreographer on a film set. … I was so confused by it. It was like The Hunger Games. It was all a popularity contest. It was awful. I was so glad to get kicked off.”
