There’s some good news for Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh!
The husband of the Queen of England, who is 97 years old, will not face any charges following the car accident he was involved in last month.
According to the Crown Prosecution Service, there’s no need to pursue legal action.
“The CPS has carefully reviewed material submitted by the police in relation to a traffic collision on the A149 on 17 January this year,” Chris Long, Chief Crown Prosecutor, said in a statement.
“We took into account all of the circumstances in this case, including the level of culpability, the age of the driver and the surrender of the driving license. We have decided that it would not be in the public interest to prosecute.”
He added, “All those involved in the collision have been informed and provided with a full explanation in writing.”
The crash occurred back in January when Prince Philip flipped his Land Rover after colliding with a Kia.
The Kia was driven by a 28-year-old woman and she had a 9-month-old baby in the backseat, but neither passenger was seriously injured.
Prince Philip had a 46-year-old woman in the passenger seat of his car who unfortunately broke her wrist.
According to Buckingham Palace, the father of Prince Charles decided to give up his driver’s license following the crash.
Though he’s a very stubborn man, he knows it’s in his best interest to stop driving at his age.
“He is a pragmatist and a realist and I’m sure he will accept that while possibly muttering under his breath,” his friend, Gyles Brandreth, recently told People.
Do you think it’s smart for Prince Philip to stop driving once and for all? Are you surprised he won’t suffer any consequences for the crash? Let us know what you think in the comments section below!
