Bad news for Taylor Swift and Ariana Grande fans — both singers will not be attending the 2019 Grammys this weekend.
Taylor is nominated for Best Pop Vocal Album, but she can’t make the big show because she’s filming Cats in London.
Ariana, on the other hand, is a much different story.
The 25-year-old, who is nominated for a couple of Grammys, was originally scheduled to attend and perform.
But earlier this week, a Variety report said the “Thank U, Next” singer wasn’t going to be attending or performing “due to a disagreement with Grammy producers over which songs she would perform.”
According to sources, Ariana wanted to perform her new single, “7 Rings,” but producers refused.
As for the “7 Rings” singer? It seems she’s saying “thank u, next” to this year’s Grammys. There’s allegedly a bit of drama between Grande and The Recording Academy.
The drama continued when Ariana took to Twitter to call out the producer of the show, Ken Ehrlich, for lying about the situation.
In a recent conversation about Ariana pulling out of the show, Ken said he “felt it was too late for her to pull something together.”
Needless to say, Ariana wasn’t happy about that.
“[I]’ve kept my mouth shut but now you’re lying about me. i can pull together a performance over night and you know that, Ken,” she tweeted on Thursday, February 7.
“[I]t was when my creativity [and] self expression was stifled by you, that i decided not to attend. i hope the show is exactly what you want it to be and more.”
She continued, “i offered 3 different songs. it’s about collaboration. it’s about feeling supported. it’s about art and honesty. not politics. not doing favors or playing games. it’s just a game y’all.. and i’m sorry but that’s not what music is to me.”
