The college bribery scam has not been easy on those involved, but it certainly hasn’t helped Felicity Huffman and William H. Macy’s relationship. Though Macy was not arrested and Huffman was, the current scandal has taken a toll on their marriage.
The Desperate Housewives actress reportedly paid $15,000 to have someone else take the SAT for her eldest daughter.
She was then arrested earlier this month and was released on a $250,000 bond.
“This situation has been very trying on Felicity and William’s marriage. They love each other but they’ve been arguing a lot,” a source told Entertainment Tonight.
“Felicity and William have an incredibly strong marriage but this situation has put a tremendous amount of pressure on them.”
The source continued, “Their close friends were stunned by the news because they’ve always a seemed like honest, good people, people who would never lie and cheat to get what they wanted. They almost seemed to pride themselves on their honesty.”
Huffman and Macy have been married since 1997.
Since the scandal broke, both Huffman and Macy’s former comments about their children have resurfaced.
In fact, Macy once opened up about giving his children a “leg up” in the industry if they wanted him too.
“One can help your children in this business, and the nepotism works, and I have no problems with it,” he said back in 2004.
“If I can give them a leg up, I absolutely would. It’s a great way to make a living. It really is.”
