Fats Domino Dies At Age 89, Rock ‘N Roll Great Did New Orleans Proud!

On Wednesday, Fats Domino died of natural causes at age 89. Now, the Blueberry Hill singer is being remembered by so many, including Harry Connick Jr.

The younger musician applauded his fellow New Orleanian, thanking the boogie-woogie, two-fisted piano player for giving all other players the chance to prove their rock ‘n roll prowess.

Fats Domino was a legend. He brought the world more than three dozen hits back in the ’50s and ’60s. Some of the most iconic include Valley of Tears, Ain’t It A Shame, Blue Monday, Walkin’ to New Orleans and, of course, Blueberry Hill.

Second only to another Southern boy, Elvis Presley, this mighty musician held the honor of having earned 23 gold records.

In fact, Elvis was eager to give credit where credit is due.

The King said to Jet Magazine in 1957, “A lot of people seem to think I started this business but rock ’n’ roll was here a long time before I came along…Let’s face it: I can’t sing it like Fats Domino can. I know that.”

According to Mark Bone, chief investigator with the Jefferson Parish Medical Examiner’s office in Louisiana, this powerhouse died due to natural causes. News of his death was confirmed by his brother-in-law as well as his former road manager.
