Sheldon Turner of Up In The Air fame has been given the green light by Fox to write a serialized drama called Victory Lane.
The Oscar-nominated scribe, who won a Golden Globe with Jason Reitman and is also a producer, now owns a script commitment for the series.
The fresh soapy TV concept is all about auto racing. Also, the plot centers around a family feud so consider this a Romeo and Juliet type of idea updated for today.
This speedy offering takes place both on and off the track, with one racer after the other in a love match. The two drivers try hard to drive the fastest when their profession calls for each to be behind the wheel of a fast car at the same time.
According to Deadline, “Auto racing is in FOX’s DNA [since] the network has been NASCAR’s U.S. home since 2001.”
As of yet, there’s no premiere date Victory Lane, as this story is still developing so don’t start your engines just yet.
Instead, consider who you want to see cast as the driving lovers. George Clooney and Anna Kendrick, perhaps? We hear the writer has the right connections.
