Entertainment Hub’s TV Recommendations For Binging During Quarantine

This year more than ever, people spent countless hours in front of the TV, binging the latest shows and catching up on classics they may have been too busy to watch before. After those great shows are done, it’s helpful to find a list of TV recommendations, and Entertainment Hub has five great ones for you.

TV Recommendations To Binge

While everyone knows about award winners like Schitt’s Creek, Killing Eve, and Breaking Bad, there are plenty of hidden gems out there just waiting to be watched—many you may find yourself enjoying even more.

Here are five shows that you should check out while you’re looking for something to watch during the holiday quarantine.

  1. The premise of a football coach going to the UK to run a professional soccer team doesn’t seem like it would be that exciting a TV show, but somehow Ted Lasso, developed by comedy genius Bill Lawrence (Scrubs, Cougar Town) based on a character created by series star Jason Sudeikis, was the most enjoyable show of 2020. The 10-episode season is streaming on Apple TV and provides the perfect blend of comedy and heart.
  2. British comedy Love Sick is a few years old, but this underrated rom-com is one of the best binge-worthy shows out there. Following the love life and dating adventures of three friends—Dylan, Luke, and Evie (played by a pre-The Good Doctor Antonia Thomas), this three-season series has plenty of heart for romantics everywhere.
  3. It’s the holiday season, so if you want to be in a festive mood, check out Merry Happy Whatever, which bowed on Netflix last Christmastime. The comedy stars Dennis Quaid as a widowed father who welcomes home his four children for Christmas, including his youngest (played by Bridgit Mendler) who brings home her musician boyfriend (Brent Morin) to spend the week. Needless to say, the strict Irish sheriff isn’t too pleased by the man keeping his daughter in California. Plenty of laughs in the show, many provided by Ashley Tisdale.
  4. Speaking of the holidays, Dash & Lily is another Netflix treat that just oozes the season. While the show focuses on a pair of teens, this show is great for families to enjoy together. It follows a whirlwind Christmas romance between a cynical Dash and optimistic Lily, who trade dares, dreams, and desires in a notebook they pass back and forth throughout New York City. Perfect to get anyone in the Christmas mood.
  5. With Season 2 of NBC’s musical dramedy Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist about to air in early January, now is a great time to catch up with Season 1’s first 12 episodes on Hulu. Jane Levy stars as the titular character who magically begins to hear people’s innermost wants and desires through popular songs sung by her friends, family, and co-workers. The show, which is equal parts touching and fun, also stars popular Broadway singers Skylar Astin, Alex Newell, and Peter Gallagher, plus Lorelei Gilmore herself, Lauren Graham. The final eight minutes of the finale is one of the best eight minutes of TV this writer has ever seen.
