Empire fans know Cookie Lyon (Taraji P. Henson) was locked up for 17 years due to some bad decisions — and to keep her husband Lucious Lyon (Terrence Howard) and their kids safe. While those years taught her a lot, it also prevented her from making memories with her family.
In this video, Gabourey Sidibe, who plays Becky, takes a look back on all the times Cookie mentioned her 17 years throughout the seasons and wonders whether the Lyon matriarch has any regrets.
“Those 17 years Cookie spent in prison for Lucious, full divorced her while she was in prison, and never went to visit her,” Sidibe says in the clip, lamenting on Lucious’s poor decisions.
