Game of Thrones (GOT) fans were shocked, to say the least, during Season 7 when they found out Emilia Clarke and Kit Harington’s beloved characters, Dany and Jon, are actually nephew and aunt. But can you imagine how the characters will react?!
In fact, the pair revealed they loved one another last season following a controversial sex scene. Though Jon doesn’t know it yet, viewers have learned he’s not actually the illegitimate son of Ned Stark.
He is actually the son of Dany’s older brother, Prince Rhaegar Targaryen. Jon’s real name was also revealed to be Aegon, and he is the true heir to the iron throne!
The couple doesn’t know about their familial relations, so Season 8 is going to be full of surprises. In an interview with TV Guide, both Clarke and Harington discussed how their characters handle the shocking news and what it means for their future as a couple.
“She [Daenerys] ends up in an incredibly fragile place. Jon is her only safety left,” Clarke reveals. However, it doesn’t sound like Jon is OK with being in love with somebody who he’s related to.
“He’s not the kind of person who can [knowingly] jump in bed with a relative,” Harrington adds. Yeah! It’s not like Jon has the morals of say…a certain set of twins that live in King’s Landing.
Sorry, GOT fans. It doesn’t sound like these two are going to last after all. The good news, however, is fans can expect the biggest season ever. David Benioff, one of the showrunners, explained why viewers can get excited about six fantastic episodes.
“It’s our biggest season by far. It’s only six episodes, but it was the longest [amount of time] we’ve ever shot, the biggest crew, the most extras, and stuntmen. More people set on fire than ever before. It was intense,” he shared.
