The former star of The Bachelorette, Hannah Brown, and her partner Alan Bersten escaped elimination during last night’s episode of Dancing With the Stars, but that doesn’t mean it wasn’t an emotional night for #TeamAlanbamaHannah.
Dancing With the Star Pro’s Remarks
Following the pair’s Halloween-themed jazz routine, the judges gave mostly positive comments about the performance, but Carrie Ann Inaba explained she felt Brown’s still a bit shy when she dances.
Co-host Erin Andrews asked Bersten his thoughts on Inaba’s comments right before they got their scores, and he seemed to agree with her sentiments.
“I think, honestly, it’s so accurate. Hannah is incredible, but she has a bit of insecurity… she has no reason to be insecure.”
Hannah Brown Gets Emotional
Then, following the team dance, Brown got emotional and said, “I’m not a performer or actor… I was a girl on reality TV,” she shared. “Every time I come out here I’m just trying my best.”
Though it’s clear Bersten wasn’t trying to hurt Hannah Brown’s feelings in the moment, he did clarify his comments in an Instagram post following the episode.

An Explanation
“No, you don’t have experience performing, singing, or acting. I know this doesn’t come easy to you, but you impress me every single day, when you go out there and you give it 100% I am so proud of you.”
The Dancing With the Stars pro continued, “I just wanted to say thank you, thank you for being an incredible teammate. Thank you for always leaving your heart on the floor, and thank you for trusting me on this journey. You not only inspire me, but you inspire everyone that comes across your infectious attitude!”
Brown began this season at the top of the leaderboard, but she’s had a few slip-ups in the past couple of weeks, which has caused her to fall a bit in the rankings. Despite the up-and-down season, she’ll be back next week to perform.
