On Dancing with the Stars’ Season 25 movie night, Frankie Muniz and Witney Carson delivered a colorful jazz number to Shiela E’s Holly Rock.
Los Angeles choreographer William (Bill) Brown, who claims no relationship to the ABC show, was asked to critique the performance by SoapHub.
Bill began, “Enthusiasm-wise, Frankie was definitely in it to win it. Good thing because the choreography presented itself more as cheesy rather than the intended kitschy.”
He commented that the reason the routine came off this way was mainly due to costume choice.
Brown said, “The short vest and frumpy jeans added to his compactness that far from complemented the lithe Witney. I mean, how about a paisley polyester suit, or even a vest with long fringe? Even the male ensemble dancers were more slickly presented.”
As for moves?
“During rehearsal someone should have paid more attention to Frankie’s flailing arms,” commented this expert who specifically pointed to the Dancing with the Stars group partner dancing.
“While the other men had their inactive arms placed neatly behind their backs, Frankie’s free arm was looking for a home,” he stated.
As for the choice of music for this routine on DWTS?
Bill Brown liked the “great energetic flow [but] Frankie couldn’t find enough time to finish each move to the fullest extent. Although the hitch-kick came off pretty darn good!”
In general, Bill gave Frankie and his pro partner a ten-plus for this presentation’s enthusiasm and energy. For ability, the LA-based choreographer awarded the star and his leading lady a seven.
